There’s a number reasons some people are more successful than others. One of those reasons is called “systems”.
When you identify something that you do over and over again, stop and write down what you do, step by step. Look for ways to remove steps, automate if you can (or ask you BI team) and try following each next time. And every next time, see what you can add, remove or update until the document stays still for a few rounds.
You’ll find the following:
- Some steps are not really necessary.
- You go and get links, and templates, and sometimes, the same data. Collect these in one document. Have it handy next time. This alone will save you so much time.
- Get ready to show that you have increased your productivity and are ready for new, challenging things. Hey, maybe that promotion or project you were thinking of. Now you have time.
Yes, I know… I called it systems. That’s what they are. If you think of them as systems your mind will step back and find dependencies. Processes don’t seem so appealing. Think of systems, and you will acquire strategies.
At least this works for me.
