A Leader and a Manager

While listening to a podcast, the narrator, Kevin Coyne asked to go and define what a leader is.

This was my definition:

A leader is someone who wants her/his people to prosper & achieve more than they thought they could, by their own will.  This is a great place to be at work.

A manager will only get the work needed in the moment from their team, and move on to the next task.  There will be no meaning, or sense of worth out of what’s done.  If you care, think about the next one, prepare yourself and move on.

I’ve met both; a Leader makes hard work worth it, above and beyond will not hurt.

“If you don’t have a leader, be one.  Strive to make the world better.”
